This is clearly the most plentiful among three die varieties dated 1825. Total mintage for the year was 4,434 coins, with approximately 100 survivors from this die combination compared to an estimate of 20 survivors for the other two marriages combined. Although not the finest known, this is one of very few Mint State examples of this die variety. Until the recent discovery of HBCC-3020, this obverse was the only die identified, with two different reverse dies. The first combination with this obverse utilized the same reverse die in service since 1821. The second reverse was used from 1825 to 1827.
