This die marriage was identified by Walter Breen as his variety 4-G, which he rated Rarity-7 in 1966. Breen noted that he had only seen one example in recent years (prior to 1966). Harry Bass acquired four different examples of this variety, including two examples from the same 1972 auction. Although this information alone does not predict this to be a common variety, it is not as rare as Walter Breen once believed.

From Stack's sale of the Forrest Collection, September 1972, Lot 183.

Commentary:
"Obverse: Very close date, 1 and 9 clear. Star 9 touches Y. Reverse: Small stars. Stars 12 - 8 - 3 are aligned. Branch end is a stub, extending just past right foot of A, which it touches, as does the claw. Cracks are quite light."
